Winner to play Elvis in new theatre production

The winner of Europe's Tribute to Elvis preliminary contest will also appear as Elvis in the world premiere of the upcoming production of “If I Can Dream”

The new musical is written by Mark Stuart Wood and is to be performed by young people who are part of the TWiST project. TWiST is a project of Salford Foundation supported by the National Lottery and funded by the Big Lottery Fund. It sets out to dispel the misconceptions surrounding young people in Salford by encouraging them to ‘have a go’ at theatre and the creative arts, discover the acting, singing and technical talents they may have and engage in a positive arts based activity that directly benefits their community. Rehearsals have been taking place regularly at the Brookhouse Community Centre in Eccles.

The new musical builds on the previous success of Ollie Wiva Twist in 2010 and 2012 and ‘West Side Wiva Story in 2011 - productions which received widespread media coverage and played to packed houses at The Lowry and Willows in Salford.

The production will be staged at The Lowry Theatre, Salford Quays at 7.00pm on Friday 2nd and Saturday 3rd August. Tickets are £10 and can be obtained from Quay Tickets via their website www.quaytickets.com or from the Lowy Box Office by phoning 0843 208 0500.
